The Discovery and Exploration into the Chambers of Medusa Cave, Nevada

Days go by where valuable time is exchanged for the prospect of discovering new caves. There are times where I would be out on my own hiking thousands of feet chasing shadows and dreams — and there are times when a new cave is found. My curiosity to discover caves has not stopped. Recently I found 12 new caves in the cave valley region not previously known. On this go around, we found 8 new caves, and then we found this one.

This cave kept getting more decorated the further we got back into it. Our jaws would drop in awe with what we kept seeing. Some of the rooms remind me of formations in Central America. Every time we walked into a new chamber we stopped — just like looking at Medusa and turning to stone. This particular cave we are calling Chambers of Medusa Cave.

For now I am keeping some details out. The cave is so delicate in a couple sections that the floor or formations can break. The two back rooms are very delicate and there are sections requiring contortion to maneuver. We think this cave exceeds 500 ft which is significant for Nevada standards. We will need to establish an exploration team. Exploration is ongoing and more updates will be coming.
