Not Mindbender Canyon 3BIII, Robbers Roost, Utah

Waking up to a group that had multiplied, we were a small committee heading into Not Mindbender Canyon. We worked our way across the desert and down into the canyon with a series of rappels. Once down, we continued into a section where the walls started getting thinner until we had to stem high to continue — some of the group's first time high-stemming, and no wetsuits for the cold water.

We worked together as a team through the high-stemming section. A narrow slit popped us out into a beautiful golden cavern-like passage with towering walls and beautiful corridors. We headed down to find a few more raps taking us even deeper, eventually opening into a huge gorge with nice walking passage. The last rap — beautiful and scenic into a hanging garden alcove — was one for the books. Almost Mindbender and Maybe Mindbender canyons all fed into this regional area. The hike out was long but very scenic, similar to hiking to Coyote Gulch.
