Curiosity is a big factor in my drive to find and explore caves — this drive has helped me find new caves along the journey through the desert. One of which is Morning Star Cave, named after the Morning Star weapon (steel balls, spikes, chains, and wood). The circular objects on the walls appear to be mammillaries, and the ceiling is coated with aragonite and popcorn — a significant indicator of hypogenic cave formation and ancient hydrothermal activity.
Some spheres have a blue tint — in an area I call the Blue Ball Crawl. Furthermore, there is a nice selenite chandelier I refer to as the 'Dragon's Tail,' quite unique to the Southwest desert. Further protection measures have been put in place. A survey map of Morning Star Cave has been completed.
