LSA Canyon High Flow, California

There is something about drinking out of a garden hose that always made me smile. I don't know if it was the lead, the rusty penny smell, or just the idea of something new, but I loved it. Obviously, I can't say no to going back to a similar experience with friends and wicked water levels.

We headed out to the top of this canyon drop-in point. Spectators abound as we became the zoo animals they hiked up to see. We rolled up our thick wetsuits, gloves, and neoprene socks and anything else that would keep us warm.

Heading down the watercourse the water was whipping around the bends and cut banks. Some of the raps were in full water — just like drinking from a super soaker 2000. Some of the other raps were on the cliffside to avoid getting saturated. We had a few occurrences where people got flipped upside down. This was rated C4 which is extreme for this canyon.

We even stuck a rope from the bottom — the water pressure was fierce enough to push boulders over the rocks and lodge 5 ft of rope in the bottom of the drop. We had a group of 10 — a rad gathering of canyon freaks and wicked rope nerds. We all had a blast and I can't wait to get back out there.
