Little Blue John Canyon, Robbers Roost, Utah

The Blue John Canyon system is a network of canyons in the Robbers Roost region. There are many forks throughout and choosing the right flavor for the day is important for the type of effort you want to put in. On our trip we selected to enter Little Blue John and exit out Horseshoe. There are two options to exit Blue John after heading down Little Blue — if you want a full day with some backpack hiking at the end, Little Blue is a good starting point.

Little Blue is somewhat short but scenic. We encountered a couple raps and a few downclimbs — it was straightforward to work around the challenges as a team and we got out of the canyon in good time. The technical part only took a couple hours, then we went into a couple miles of hiking down canyon into the lower section of Blue John. Make sure you research the route you want to take so you are prepared for what to expect.
