Greyhound Pit, Utah

Greyhound Pit is a scenic open-air pit located in the high karst plateau of a Utah alpine plain. The vertical extent is around 100 feet. The initial drop is around 60 ft down to a pile of snow — a nice open-air drop with a lot of moss on the walls and flowstone drapery. The cave continues into another room that ends, with some formations and a few fissures.

This cave has a big-room feel but ended quickly — as most all of the other caves in the area do. There was snow at the bottom along with some interesting formations. It was nice to drop into a large room and get some time on rope. If you are interested in caving, please reach out to your local grotto and get into the world of caving.
