Giumaglio Canyon, Ticino, Switzerland

Giumaglio Canyon is just an awesome canyon — I absolutely loved this short canyon. We started off with a beautiful day and called the dam station to ensure there was no release. This was a 20-minute hike up to the top and we spent 3 hours in this canyon.

We found excellent raps and a couple large jumps that were all amazing. This was a straightforward canyon to get through with easy pulls. There is one section where you swim through a narrow corridor with a long waterfall and a hanging garden full of plants — a paradise to swim through.

The final sequence was a beautiful rap in water down to a swimming hole where you could see the town below. We finished up in 3 hours so we went to a winery for some local wine. I am in love with this region and can't wait to get back. Make sure you call the dam station before going in — sometimes they release water and you do not want to be inside. This is the canyon to start with to ramp up to more difficult canyons. I highly recommend it.
