Day 2 of the Nevada-Utah desert caving road trip. After pushing the underwater passage at Gandy Warm Springs Beware Cave as far as possible, the team spotted Smith Creek Cave's massive entrance visible from the dirt road five miles away. The Great Basin is a vast karst province with hundreds of documented cave systems — many rarely visited and poorly mapped.
