Day 1 of a multi-day Nevada and Utah desert caving expedition. Driving from Las Vegas into the Great Basin region to begin a series of cave visits over the weekend. The wide open Nevada desert gives way to mountain ranges with significant karst geology. The first day involved travel and site reconnaissance for the caving objectives ahead.
