Whispering Falls Canyon, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

A beautiful oasis within the largest tributary in the Grand Canyon — Whispering Falls is a 250ft waterfall in the heart of Kanab Creek. It is also a technical canyoneering route when coming from the east (a day's approach). An alternative sneak route is available for river runners and dedicated canyoneers coming from the west tributaries.

As I got on rap I could hear the small trickle of water whispering down the sloped slab face. Once lower, clear waters of the pool collecting this water became visible. The hanging gardens and moss stretched over 100ft back up the wall — the water smelled of fresh organic life and the light created a fiery hue. Replaced the webbing. The muav was very scenic as we traversed back into Kanab Creek. Only 3 rappels but each had its own personality. Absolutely stunning.
