Kanab Creek, Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona

The biggest canyon tributary in the Grand Canyon is almost like its own canyoneering destination in itself. There are multiple access points into the Kanab Creek tributaries. We took a route down from Kanab Point via the technical Kanab 0 Canyon. The route took most of the day but once in the canyon, the massive redwall limestone walls expanded the horizon and filled most of our views.
Once in the canyon we headed over to Whispering Falls Canyon via a sneak route. After this half-day canyon we headed upstream to Scotty's Hollow for our exit. We spent another night in Kanab Creek to have water for the hike out. Along the way we passed Kanab 1 and Kanab 2 Canyons — two more technical canyons accessing Kanab Creek.
The hike out of Scotty's Hollow was a beautiful narrow canyon with warm spring flowing through the corridors — with some challenging boulder obstructions. Once at the esplanade the exit got steeper and steeper. We had to pick our way through the Kaibab layer to gain the rim. Going from Kanab Point to Kanab 0, down to Whispering Falls, up to Scotty's Hollow, and out to the rim made this one epic Grand Canyoneering experience. So grateful for this.
