Devil's Golf Course is one of Death Valley's most alien landscapes — a vast field of jagged halite salt crystal formations covering the ancient lake bed floor at nearly 282 feet below sea level. The crystals are razor-sharp and constantly growing and shrinking with the fluctuating temperatures and humidity of the desert.
There is no trail needed at Devil's Golf Course — you simply park and wander into the field of salt formations. The crackling sound of the salt crystals underfoot is memorable and the scale of the formation field extends to the horizon. Early morning and late afternoon provide the best lighting for photography. A unique and humbling Death Valley experience.
