Red Baron Cave, Utah

Red Baron Cave required permission from the local caving organization to access. The approach alone is nearly three hours of couloir scrambling with 2,000+ feet of elevation gain to reach the cliff top where the cave entrance sits — a karst window that you rap 15ft down to reach the gated entrance. Inside, the cave is 200-300ft in length with small rooms colored by green copper-oxide tints and yellow sulfur composites in the calcite. A side passage slopes down with additional formation interest. With Joe.
