Lord Sargoth Cave, Nevada

Ridgewalking is freedom — freedom to find what lies hidden in the desert mountains. Some of the caves and shelters I have stayed in overnight as jump points for deeper exploration. In this case, finding bulbous formations, hundreds of feet of passage, and a torch at the entrance was quite the find.
Lord Sargoth Cave is a newly discovered Nevada cave with some interesting features inside its hundreds of feet of passage — a massive entrance and a series of separated passages going into the mountain. I was immediately impressed with the entrance and quickly ran around the back to attempt entry into the passages. I was happy to find going passage, but not so happy to crawl through unique needle-like spines that bedded the floor. I named this crawl the Tingle Jingle Balls Crawl.
In another passage I immediately saw a stick lodged in the upper wall of the entrance — a torch. The Indians must have lit this torch using fast-burning yucca and entered the cave. I wonder if water was more abundant here in the past? Today the cave still drips from active formations, including another faucet toward the back. Proper photos and a survey still need to be completed.
