About a half hour south of Las Vegas on a lonely highway, some mountains of limestone hills have interesting geology — possibly home to caves though none located yet. There are a few mines in the area and, more importantly, 4 canyoneering routes in the State Line Hills. Ladder of Doom was a rough road to the trailhead with about an hour hike to the top. The drops were a bit open but the limestone was interesting. Only 2 hours through the canyon total. Three other canyons here are worth returning to check out.
