Descending Kolob Canyon is quite the enchanting place to visit. Kolob Canyon is a Zion classic with some excellent rappels with flowing water. On our visit there was no flow — a gage station releases water from time to time but with that year's low rain collection, I anticipated there wouldn't be much. We did encounter pools to swim through but overall the canyon was pretty dry.
You will encounter over 10 raps in the watercourse if you catch the canyon in flowing water conditions. Stunning views and excellent raps make this a must-do on your Zion canyoneering trip. Expect a full day when you enter into Kolob. You must also contact the church to gain access to hike out the MIA trail, and call the gage station to see if they are going to release water before entering. Make sure you read the beta as there are activities to consider.
