Heaven's Gate Cave, Utah

Heaven's Gate Cave is a photogenic 170ft vertical cave in the Tony Grove limestone of northern Utah, sitting at 8 to 9,000ft elevation. The hike is 2.5 miles of mountainous limestone terrain through steep scree slopes. Clear morning with pine-scented air and blue skies across the ridge. The cave earned its name from the dramatic opening — an inverted hole in the alpine meadow that drops straight down into darkness.
