Eastern Sun Canyon in Zion National Park is a 3AII technical canyon that earns its name from the way sunlight illuminates its walls at certain times of day — the Navajo sandstone glows with an intensity that makes every rappel feel like a descent into fire. The canyon has fun technical sections and beautiful scenery throughout.

A permit is required to access this canyon in Zion. The rating makes it appropriate for intermediate canyoneers with technical experience. Combined with nearby canyons in the area, Eastern Sun makes for a fantastic multi-day Zion canyoneering trip. Check the Zion permit system in advance — this is a popular area.
