Box Canyon–Maple Canyon, Utah

Box Canyon is at the lower end of Maple Canyon in Sanpete County, Utah near the town of Fountain Green — about an hour and a half south of Salt Lake City. The canyon is formed in natural conglomerate rock that creates a surreal landscape of spires, deep alcoves, narrow fissures, and near-vertical walls reaching hundreds of feet above. The canyon starts as a narrow slit in the floor and offers 2-3 technical rappels up to about 100ft. The rock is popular with sport climbers as well — well-bolted steep lines throughout the canyon. Note that Box Canyon is on private land; the landowners have generously allowed access, so please treat the area with the utmost respect, leave no trace, and pack out everything you bring in.
