Big Spring Northwest Fork 3BI, Robbers Roost, Utah

The pilgrimage to desert sandstone is an instinctive calling. The desert is not with you nor against you — it just is. As we descend into the northwest fork of Big Spring, the fluted passages create a darkness and mysterious stillness that seeps into your skin. There are only a couple rappels and a few more that can potentially be downclimbed — the pulls were straightforward.

The lower section of Northwest Fork Big Spring is a special place — quite dark in nature and sculpted with walls throwing colors of red and orange. The hike out was straightforward. This is the perfect canyon to do before sunset. Trust your gear, trust your partners, and enjoy one of Robbers Roost's most atmospheric canyons.
